Dentures cover the taste buds on the roof of the mouth meaning that denture wearers do not have the ability to taste their food as well as non-denture wearers. Denture wearers can also end up with sores from removing their dentures especially when they eat. Some denture wearers are only able to eat softer foods, and biting into an apple can be impossible to do. Wearing dentures can even affect the enjoyment of kissing.

He was well preserved due to conditions found in the hot desert sands, which had been his burial site since his death estimated to be around 3300 B.C. Ginger was not a mighty Pharaoh so he did not get the notoriety given Ramses and Seti I and the other Pharaoh's discovered to date. Nevertheless he is an example of a natural mummification process, preserved by the desert sands.

Title:  Fewer CT Scans for Canadian Children

Excerpt:   The first portable CT scan in Canada was first used at the Montreal Neurological Center in Montreal in 2008. The machine takes cross slice images of the body and allows the doctors to see the arteries and veins in the brain and also to see the blood flow which is important for many diseases such early detection of stroke, or bleeding from some sort of trauma. Regular size CT are enormous and very expensive, this model is not only cheaper but can be transported around the hospital instead of having to move critical patients around.

Title:  Big Brother is Still Watching Over You

Excerpt: These new systems also called automatic vehicle recognition, car plate recognition, license plate recognition and Lecture Automatique de Plaques d'Immatriculation can scan a license plate every second on cars that are whizzing by at up to 100 miles an hour. These new systems use optical character recognition, to translate the characters, and images of the license plates by using a scanner and then recording it onto an editing device to be recognized by the traffic authority. These new surveillance systems can also use pre-existing technology such as hidden cameras or close circuit television or surveillance systems specifically designed for the road traffic. So much for the thrill of the chase that some people seem to get when they can outsmart the traffic police. Their fun days are over.

Even though skeptical, scientists around the world are quite interested in the findings and now a new study out of Buffalo, NY adds credence to Zamboni's findings. They have noted that MS patients are twice as likely to be at risk for blocked veins in the neck chest than none MS patients. These researchers have released the results of the first ever study on a new condition, which they are calling CCSVI, or chronic cerebro-spinal venous insufficiency. Of the 500 subjects, tested in the study by means of ultrasound and MRI brain scans, the MS patients represented 55 per cent of the patients found to have blocked veins in the neck and chest.

Title:   Vampire Legends

Excerpt:

The two main characteristics of the modern day vampires as we know from Eastern European folklore is blood sucking and the creatures ability to transcend death. The theme of the "undead" adds to the horror of the vampire nonhuman identity. Depending upon the culture vampires could be dark and hooded, pale, have long talons, or fanged teeth etc. Furthermore how the vampire came into being also varies with cultures, in European history we know to be bitten by a vampire is how to become one (remember the Dracula Hollywood movies). In Chinese folklore, if an animal jumped over a corpse it was feared that it would become the "Undead". Other cultures believed that burying a corpse upside down would create a vampire.

What is Dream Paralysis

Excerpt from today's story

Have you ever heard of the Hag Syndrome? Well this is what Dream Paralysis was once called. Some people believe that the origins of this syndrome may be rooted in the incubus and succubus legends. Also, from the Scandinavian, and Icelandic legends the origins might also come from the Mara, or Mare, who is responsible for nightmares. Dream Paralysis is associated with terrible nightmares where the devil sits on a person's chest at night

The Cat's Second Scent Organ

Excerpt from today's story

From the moment of birth a tiny kitten will use its nose to find his mother and search for a nipple (teat). From that point forward it will search for food in the same manner. Feral cats will locate food in very strange or hidden places. Sick or elderly cats may have trouble finding food, as they may not be able to smell it. Warming up the food releases the odor so the cat will be able to locate the food easier.

Suicide Prevention Week

Excerpt from today's story

In 2008, 1103 individuals ended their lives by suicide in the province of Quebec. The majority of these suicides were in rural areas of Quebec, where the employment levels were high and access to government programs inaccessible by many. Julie Campbell, the president of The Quebec Association for Suicide Prevention says that one of the factors associated with not getting the help in rural areas is that many people do not have a car to get around.
